History
After more than a decade as literacy coordinators of a volunteer
based adult literacy program and years of training volunteer
tutors it became evident that a deeper understanding of dyslexia
and other learning disabilities was necessary in order to
truly help the learners. This realization created a quest
for knowledge about dyslexia and began to help teachers,
tutors, parents, reading specialists, special education teachers
and those with dyslexia. Once we began to train others about
reading disabilities and heard their sincere gratitude for
helping them help their students, we knew it would be our
mission to provide quality, accurate and research-based information.
Although we get a great deal of satisfaction from these on-site
workshops and presentations, we knew it was time to make
this information accessible to everyone in a more collegiate
atmosphere that required more time. That is when we decided
to put our classes on-line. |
